The original melody of this spanish Birthday song can be taken from age old english song, “Happy Birthday to you” that was written by the American sisters Patty and Mildred Hill in 1893 when they were teaching at a school in Louisville, Kentucky.

The song was legally registered in 1935, eleven years before the death of Patty. But, since 1998 the copyright of the song is with a subsidiary company of Time Warner’s company and with the patent due to expire in 2030.
